5. Contract Coating Specifications
Contract Coating:
If you want, you can do the printing and leave the coating to us. All we need is for you to supply the weeded printed labels in the following sheet format.
Sheet Size:
The maximum sheet size is 15" x 22" on a stay flat liner or a liner that is made of plastic (polyester, polystryrene, polyolifin, etc). The only exception is for sample runs. There is no minimum sheet size.
Die Cutting:
Do not die cut into or through the liner. Cutting through the liner will result in a higher waste. Please provide at least 10 - 15% overs.
Stock:
No plain paper labels! Labels must be plastic (vinyl, polyester, polycarbonate etc.) The exception is a foil paper label.
Sheet Layout:
There must be a minimum of 1/8" (0.125") between the labels and 1/2" liner left on at least 2 opposing edges of the sheet. The sheet edge is used to register the dispensing nozzles to the label (decal). The spacing between the labels must be kept consistent to reduce waste.
There cannot be pure 90 degree corners on the label. A minimum of 1/32" (0.03125") corner radius for an outward facing corner and a 1/16" (0.0625") minimum radius is needed for inward facing corners. A large radius is even better. A failure to comply with these requirements will result in a higher wastage as the coating will either fail to completely cover the label or it will flow off the label.>P
Over Laminates and Varnishes:
Labels with these properties will need to be tested. The over laminate or varnish may compromise the adhesion and appearance of the coating.
Shapes:
Special shapes may pose special problems. While most shapes can be coated please e-mail an outline of any special shapes with your quote request.
Caution:
Due to the refractive properties of the coating, it may effect the colours of the label. If the colour match is critical, a test run should be done.
